The Beginning

I don't know how long I'll go on with sports metaphors in this blog, but I'm fairly certain people will be bothered by it in no time.

The purpose of this blog will be to capture the process of building my first home, as well as insight people to comment on various aspects and give their two cents as to how things will work out. I figure that by doing this I'll be able to keep everyone posted, have a nice photograph record of the house as it progresses as well as maximize the end product through suggestions of people who are probably better at this kind of thing than I.

The title of this blog is "Building a Dynasty". It was all I could think of when the question popped up. However it's definitely somewhat of a decent analogy. Need to pick a city, assemble a team and make sure you get long term performance out of the finished product.

I'm the team owner, but every team needs a good General Manager. A couple of months ago. I brought on Bill Sheppard. Bill has been working the real estate market in St. John's for over 20 years. More importantly, he's Ashley Sheppard's father and theres something about knowing someone through their daughter that makes you feel less likely to get ripped off.

Myself and Bill met periodically a couple of months back to discuss general ideas but nothing serious, as I still had to pay off "drinking debt" from my last semester in school. However, I started to think about things more seriously recently. And that will be covered in the next episode which will be called "Buy out an existing franchise or expand".

Ok, I'm done with the sports analogy. It won't be called that at all.
